No other destination on earth offers what Scotland does: 16 of Golf Digest’s World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses packed into a country the size of South Carolina, each one shaped by the wind and the land rather than a designer’s blueprint.
Every golfer who makes the trip to Scotland quickly learns the same thing — once is not enough. It would take more than a decade of vacations to play all the courses that demand to be played, and another decade to play them just one more time. Scotland is, simply, addictive.
Since 1988, Golf International has been building custom Scotland golf trip packages for American golfers who want to do it right. We know these courses, these hotels, these pubs, and these club secretaries by name. That access — built over 35 years — is what we bring to every itinerary we design.
Golf International offers access to more than 30 Scottish courses, from the iconic to the hidden. Here are the highlights.
The Old Course at St Andrews is the most famous golf course on earth. Hosting The Open Championship 30 times — and scheduled again for 2027 — it is the spiritual center of the game. The Valley of Sin, the Road Hole, the Swilcan Bridge: these are not just landmarks, they are golf history you can walk through.
Booking a guaranteed tee time on the Old Course requires expertise and relationships. Golf International offers a St Andrews Old Course Guaranteed Tee Time Package — no ballot, no uncertainty. We also arrange rounds on the New Course, Jubilee Course, and Castle Course for clients who want the full St Andrews experience.
Ranked among the top 10 courses in the world by Golf Digest, Royal Dornoch sits in the Scottish Highlands, remote and uncompromising. It is arguably the finest links course never to have hosted The Open Championship, and for many golfers, it is the highlight of their trip. We pair Dornoch with nearby Brora, Golspie, and Tain (replace Golspie and Tain with Nairn and Castle Stuart) for clients who want a true Highland golf adventure.
Home to the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, Muirfield is widely regarded as the finest examination of golf in Scotland. It is also among the most difficult clubs in the world to access as a visitor. Golf International’s long-standing relationship with the club allows us to arrange play here for our clients — an access that most independent travelers simply cannot secure.
The Ailsa Course at Turnberry, set against the backdrop of Ailsa Craig and the Mull of Kintyre, is one of the most visually dramatic golf courses in existence. Four-time Open Championship host. Ranked No. 1 in the 2025 Golfers’ Choice public course rankings for the second consecutive year. A must-play for anyone serious about Scottish golf.
Carnoustie is not a course designed to be liked — it is designed to be conquered. Ranked 16th in the world by Golf Digest, it has broken more Open Championships than any other venue. Barry Burn. The 17th. The closing stretch. Carnoustie demands respect, and rewards it.
Since opening in 2001, Kingsbarns Golf Links near St Andrews has earned its place among Scotland’s elite. Carved from coastal farmland overlooking the North Sea, it combines traditional links character with stunning scenery. Consistently ranked in the top 50 courses in the world.
Golf Digest’s Best New Course of 2009 has grown into one of Scotland’s most talked-about experiences. Perched above the Moray Firth near Inverness, Castle Stuart delivers dramatic elevation changes and panoramic Highland views unlike anything else in Scottish golf.
Our Scotland courses also include:
No two Golf International itineraries are identical. When you contact our New York office, you are speaking directly with a golfer who has played these courses and knows what makes each one extraordinary. We design your trip around:
When you land in Scotland, a Golf International staff member — always a fellow golfer — will meet you at the airport, help you collect your rental car, and answer any last-minute questions. That is a service most golf travel companies simply do not offer.
Scotland golf courses are generally open April through October, with the peak season running May through September. For the best combination of long daylight hours, firm fairways, and milder weather, June and early July are ideal. The Old Course at St Andrews operates April through October; green fees run £340 per person in peak season.
If The Open Championship is on your bucket list, Golf International offers hospitality packages for the host venue each year. The 155th Open returns to St Andrews in 2027 — demand for tee times and packages will be exceptional. Contact us now to begin planning.
Tell us your dream courses and we will build the rest. Whether it is a week at St Andrews or a two-week tour from Turnberry to Dornoch, Golf International will design an itinerary that exceeds every expectation.
