Spain Golf Course Trips & Packages

Spain Golf Trip Packages — The Costa del Sol and Beyond

Sun-drenched fairways, world-ranked courses, and over 300 days of playing weather a year. Custom-designed Spain golf packages built by Golf International’s New York specialists since 1988.

Spain — Europe’s Golf Capital in the Sun

Spain is the most popular golf destination in Continental Europe, and for good reason. With more than 300 days of sunshine per year and over 400 courses spread across Andalusia, Catalonia, and the Balearics, it offers everything the golf traveler could want: elite championship layouts, luxury resorts, Michelin-starred dining, and a climate that makes late autumn and winter rounds in the Costa del Sol genuinely pleasurable.

Spanish Horse

The heartland of Spanish golf is Andalusia in the south — specifically the corridor between Marbella and Sotogrande along the Costa del Sol. This stretch of coastline is home to Spain’s top two ranked courses (Valderrama and Real Club Sotogrande), as well as some of Europe’s finest resort golf. Add Catalonia in the north — home to PGA Catalunya and El Prat — and Golf International covers the full breadth of what Spain has to offer.

Since 1988, Golf International has been designing custom Spain golf packages for American golfers. Whether you want a week at Valderrama, a Sotogrande golf circuit, or a Costa del Sol resort stay combining golf with culture and cuisine, we will build it from scratch around your preferences.

Spain’s Finest: Courses We Know and Play

Valderrama — Spain’s No. 1 and a Ryder Cup Legend

Real Club Valderrama is the finest golf course in Spain and one of the most famous in the world. Ranked No. 1 in Spain and No. 6 in Europe by Golf World’s 2025 Top 100 European Courses, it hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup — the first on Continental European soil — and has been a regular host of the Volvo Masters and Andalucia Masters on the European Tour. Robert Trent Jones Sr.’s design winds through ancient cork oaks on a hillside above Sotogrande, demanding precision and patience from the first tee to the last. The par-5 17th is one of the most strategically demanding holes in world golf.

Access to Valderrama as a visiting golfer requires planning and connections. Golf International arranges play here as part of bespoke Sotogrande packages.

Real Club de Golf Sotogrande — Spain’s No. 2

The original Robert Trent Jones Sr. design in the area — Valderrama was actually a redesign of a sister course — Sotogrande Old is ranked No. 2 in Spain and No. 10 in Europe by Golf World 2025. Set among pine forests and rolling Andalusian countryside, it is a more welcoming course than Valderrama but no less impressive. The combination of Valderrama and Sotogrande Old in a single trip represents the best two-course pairing in Spanish golf.

Finca Cortesin — The 2031 Ryder Cup Venue

Finca Cortesin near Casares hosted the 2023 Solheim Cup and is confirmed as the 2031 Ryder Cup venue — the first time Spain will host golf’s greatest team event. Ranked in Spain’s top 5 and set within a breathtaking five-star resort overlooking the Mediterranean, it is an essential addition to any serious Costa del Sol golf package. The course is known for its immaculate conditioning, dramatic elevation changes, and stunning sea views from the upper holes.

La Reserva de Sotogrande — No. 13 in Spain

La Reserva has climbed steadily up the rankings and now sits at No. 13 in Spain (Golf World 2025), No. 52 in Europe. Part of the Sotogrande resort estate, it offers a strikingly different experience to the classic parkland designs of Valderrama and Sotogrande Old — more modern in concept, with dramatic terrain and resort-quality presentation. Sotogrande is now ranked No. 29 in the world by Golf World’s Top 100 World Resorts — the highest-ranked golf destination in Spain.

Las Brisas — Marbella’s Golden Mile Classic

Real Club de Golf Las Brisas in the Nueva Andalucía valley near Marbella is one of the Costa del Sol’s most prestigious clubs. A Robert Trent Jones Sr. design, it hosted the 1973 World Cup of Golf and has been a regular European Tour stop. Ranked in Spain’s top 10, it occupies a beautiful valley surrounded by mountain peaks and is one of the most challenging courses on the Costa del Sol.

Almenara — Sotogrande’s Third Dimension

Almenara Golf, set within the Sotogrande estate, is the most accessible of the three Sotogrande-area courses and an excellent option for clients building a multi-round stay in the area. The 27-hole layout winds through ancient cork oaks and eucalyptus trees, with a very different feel from the open fairways of Valderrama and the Old Course.

PGA Catalunya (Stadium Course) — Barcelona’s World-Class Layout

For golfers combining a Spain golf trip with time in Barcelona or the Costa Brava, PGA Catalunya is the answer. The Stadium Course is regularly ranked in Europe’s top 10 and has hosted the Spanish Open and European Tour qualifying school. A links-style layout in the foothills above Girona, it plays nothing like the parkland courses of the south — and is all the more compelling for it.

How We Build Your Spain Golf Package

Spain’s golf regions are distinct enough that a well-designed itinerary needs to be purposeful. The Sotogrande-Marbella corridor, Catalonia near Barcelona, and the central courses near Seville and Jerez all offer different experiences and suit different travel styles.

When you work with Golf International, we design your Spain package around:

  • Which courses are on your list — particularly Valderrama and Finca Cortesin, which require advance booking
  • Base vs. touring — most clients prefer basing themselves in one area (Sotogrande or Marbella) rather than moving hotels daily
  • Resort accommodation — Spain has some of Europe’s finest golf resorts, and we match the hotel to the experience
  • Non-golf days — the Costa del Sol offers world-class dining, Andalusian villages, Gibraltar, and Seville day trips that reward the non-golfer in your group
  • Group size — we operate Spain trips for couples through to groups of 100

Why Choose Golf International for Spain

  • 35+ years of operating European golf packages — we knew Valderrama when it was a quiet Andalusian club
  • Founding member of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO)
  • Local staff greeting upon arrival — a Golf International representative meets your group at the airport
  • Access to private and members-only clubs including Valderrama and Las Brisas
  • New York office, direct contact — no outsourced booking platforms, no automated itineraries

When to Go to Spain

The Costa del Sol is playable year-round. October through April offers the most comfortable conditions — mild temperatures, firm fairways, and none of the summer heat. December and January are surprisingly excellent: quiet courses, low green fees, and perfect 65°F afternoons. If you want Valderrama or Finca Cortesin, book at least six months in advance regardless of season.

Whether it is a week in Sotogrande playing Valderrama, a Costa del Sol resort package, or a Barcelona golf circuit paired with a city break, Golf International will design an itinerary worthy of the destination.
