Day 1
Arrive Lisbon Airport.
Play Penha Longa Atlantic Course on Arrival Afternoon
Designed by international golf architect Robert Trent Jones, the course contains all the features of a designer whose work has hosted two World Cups. The holes near the clubhouse follow the valley area, winding past mature pines and granite rocks. Other holes follow higher ground in the foothills below Sintra, with superb views down to the resort town of Cascais and the Atlantic Ocean. Undulating and testing with a number of doglegs, the course has been carefully integrated into the natural surroundings to maintain a harmony with nature.
Day 2
Play Praia d’El Rey
Renowned golf architect, Cabell B. Robinson, viewed being asked to design the Praia d’El Rey golf course as the opportunity of a lifetime. This is the kind of landscape architects try to create, but at Praia d’El Rey it’s all here, naturally. It is certainly one of the most picturesque layouts in Europe, set in extensive grounds of pine forest and majestic sand-dunes, running along a pristine white sand beach with spectacular views over the Atlantic to Portugal’s Berlenga Islands beyond.
Day 3
Play Troia
Ever since this Robert Trent Jones layout first opened in 1981 it has always been considered as one of Portugal’s best. This is a fun course to reach from Lisbon, with the final stretch of the short journey requiring a brief ferry-ride from Setubal to the pencil thin-peninsula that Troia calls home. Almost totally surrounded by water with the accompanying sea breezes, this is a course with many links-like attributes. The course looks tighter than it actually is, but the hazards are in clear view and well located, especially the deep, hungry bunkers that provide a stern defense for the greens that are often small and well contoured. Troia is a great challenge for the better player and an exciting test for the rest of us.
Day 4
Play Royal Obidos Course
This is a true test of golf for players of all levels. The first hole, a generous dogleg right, heads north, setting up a spectacular combination of holes overlooking the Obidos Lagoon. The feature hole on the front nine is the 3rd, a Par 3 hit to an island green, with the stunning lagoon in the background. The back nine overlook the Atlantic Ocean, meandering between an intricate ecosystem of lakes interconnected by cascading streams. Highlight of the back half is the 18th, a par 5 with a panoramic view over the course, clubhouse and the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 5
Play Oitavos Dunes Course
A spectacular cliff-top design from Arthur Hills and a regular host to The Portuguese Open, Oitavos is not only ranked among Portugal’s top courses, but is also one of the best in Europe. Stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean to one side and the Sintra Mountains to the other, this handsome layout with its links-like characteristics, is tough and unforgiving to the extreme. Even accomplished players will need their A-game and high handicappers will be well advised to play from the forward tees. A stern examination of golf to be savored and enjoyed by the true connoisseurs of the game.
Day 6
Play West Cliffs Course
The varied landscape and natural terrain was maintained undisturbed as possible to create a unique and world class 18-hole seaside links golf course alongside the silver coast. Rolling sand dunes interspersed with coastal vegetation, while the pine groves overlook the ocean from above. This privileged and exclusive location will mesmerize and challenge you to tame the forces of nature and perfect your game.
Day 7
Depart Portugal
