La Cala

This is one of the regions major golf resorts with a 4 star hotel, a health spa, a golf academy and three quite different,18-hole Championship courses, all are the handiwork of Cabell Robinson. The idyllic setting in the foothills of the Mijas Mountains is quite spectacular.

La Cala’s Europa Course offers magnificent mountain views and a serious challenge for most, though it is perhaps a little more forgiving than then other two layouts.

The America Course while adding some stunning Mediterranean views to the mountain landscape, also gives players the opportunity to spread their shoulders and try some big hitting. This is an easier driving course than the other two, with fewer bunkers to worry those who may be less than totally accurate, but there are still some healthy carries required to get over the steeply sloping, brush covered rough. There are also a couple of unexpected water hazards that pop-up – just to keep things interesting.

The Asia Course  is deceivingly shorter than the others, but don’t be misled, this is the toughest of the three and better suited to the low handicappers. This is the course preferred by the serious golfers.
